Abstract
(English)
This document is in charge of designing the hardware and communications infrastructure of this project, and it is the first document with a designed system to be implemented in this project. The previous documents IR3.4.1 (Smart Textile and Intelligent Requirements), IR3.4.2 (State of the Art of Wireless Sensor Networks Technologies), IR3.4.3 (State of the Art of Middleware Distributed Technologies for Networks of Embedded Devices) and IR3.4.4 (State of the Art of personal devices for AAL services) just describe the state of the art of the technologies involved in the project. By another hand, IR3.4.5 (Specification of the integration of MyHeart and PIPS information systems) document is the first one in the line of integration of external devices, described deeply in the future report IR3.4.7. This document reflects the necessity of installing a set of devices in an existing, and usually old flat. So, there are some physical aspects to be taken into consideration, as there lives elderly people (usually just one), where the environment should not be changed radically. Thus, PERSONA should avoid installing wires and placing wires or other objects on the ground and on the walls for both not increase the probability of falling down and not change the environment where the elderly lives. Following this idea, the project should focus its effort in placing wireless devices. Wireless devices not only from the point of view of their communications, but also from the point of view of their power supply. Thus, they should have a long life battery included in them. Another key aspect to be taken into consideration is the final cost of the project, from the point of view of the user. To do it, we chose (when possible) totally wireless devices (also linked with the previous aspect) to decrease the price of an installation, and trying to choose always cheaper devices in market. Thus, this document reflects the effort applied in this field by the wireless communications analysis made, which result shows the cheapest available option. Chapter 2 of this document describes the Architecture to be implemented, also linked with the upper layers of this project, and related to other WP (WP3.1, WP3.2 and WP3.3). Chapter 3 is concentrated in the definition of the concrete devices (models included) to be used in the project. Basically, we have identified 5 types of devices:  Sensors  Actuators  User Devices  Specific Devices  Smart Textiles Chapter 4 defines the communication technologies implied in the project, and their application to the selected devices. Chapter 5 defines the layer SAIL (Sensor abstraction & Integration Layer), which allows the integration of the devices into the general structure of the Middleware defined in WP3.1. Chapter 6 summarizes the considerations to be taken into account in case a new device has to be included into PERSONA System, or we would like to design a new PEROSONA device, that is, a device designed to work in PEROSONA.
