Abstract
(English)
NiMnGa alloys display several "giant" effects (e.g. magnetocaloric, magnetoelastic, magnetoresistive) due to the interplay between magnetic and structural degrees of freedom. A large magnetization difference, ΔM, between martensitic (MP) and austenitic (AP) phases is of great importance to obtain higher performances due to the improved possibility of driving structural transformations by magnetic fields. A ΔM enhancement was recently achieved by adding Co to Mn-rich NiMnGa alloys [1]. To contribute to the understanding of Co effects we have mapped the behaviour of Co-substituted alloys.
