Abstract
(English)
Some preliminary results relative to the generation of a geometrical model suitable to perform computer assisted three-dimensional morphometric analysis on sonographic images are presented. The modeling procedure is mainly composed of three sequential phases: a) automatic acquisition of time sequences of two-dimensional echotomograms; b) three-dimensional reconstruction of an image considered as a stack of parallel two-dimensional slices and elaboration of discrete distance maps of selected echoes accordiog to predefined projective laws; e) generation of a spatial geometric model of the examined object starting from the previously computed maps. The geometric model derived from a particular input sequence of sonographic slices can be utilized to perform computer assisted 3-D analysis both on the total echo space anel selected subregions.
