Frosini G., Gerace G. B. Pulse input asynchronous sequential circuits. Internal note IEI-B69-01, 1969.
Traditionally synchronous sequential circuits are considered as controlled by input pulses, and asynchronous sequential circuits by input levels. The aim of this paper is to study the general properties of a class of asynchronous circuits with some inputs that can be thought of as energized by "pulses". For this type of circuit ts, called "pulse input asynchronous sequential circuits" (PA circuits) a synthesis technique is outlined which is introductive to specific techniques for state reduction and state assignments problems described by the authors in other papers. PA circuits and other types of sequential circuits, synchronous and asynchronous, are also compared, and methods are given for transforming the flow table for a circuit of a type into the flow table for an equivalent PA circuit.
